Citizen Promaster Aqualand Dive Watch

After signing up the scuba diving course, I have a strong excuse for myself to buy a new watch, a dive watch to be exact. For scuba diving, I should have bought a dive computer instead, but this Citizen dive watch really caught my eyes.

Have been checking on the Internet for dive watches and this one really stands out. The Citizen Promaster Aqualand, model no. JV0000-01E. I was very disappointed at first, because the are so many watch shops around KL/PJ, but only a handful selling Citizen watches, and all of them do not have the model I wanted.

Finally, one watch shop called me and said that this particular model has arrived. I quickly went and checked it out. Once I hold the watch in my hand, I told myself I must have it. I guess the salesman could see it in my eyes, so he only give me 35% off from the retail price. :)

The watch look so much nicer in actual compared to photos on the Internet. The build quality is also very good. Better than a lot of so called swiss-made watches at the same price range.

Below are some photos I took. Trust me, the real thing looks even nicer… :D

    Bro,
Congrats on a nice watch! If you dive with it, please change the strap to a bracelet, coz 2 days ago, the rubber strap on my Panerai Chronograph broke, luckily I caught the damn thing, or else…

Thanks bro. The rubber strap on your Panerai actually broke just like that? Well, we certainly don’t want it to break when we are doing wall diving with a 600m bottom. :D

Unfortunately, this particular model only comes with rubber strap. But it is reinforced with some kind of fiber along the inside of the strap. Hopes this will hold up well :)

eh, why not a proper dive computer.

The Suunto D6/D9s look really nice but probably a little overkill…or a little embarassing if you get questioned about it…

Happened to a buddy of mine. Showed up at a dive site with a dive computer but got a hard time explaining why he can’t go past 20m with the rest of the ‘gang’.

Bought this because I could wear anytime, not only when diving. Will get another proper dive computer when things get more serious. Probably the D4 or Stinger. Don’t need the extra features of the D6/D9. I’ll stick with the dive table at the moment.

    Hey, I didn’t know you dive too… :)

I suppose you don’t need a dive computer until after your Advanced Open water and start mixing gasses. Until then you can always depend on your Dive Master.

I would love to but I don’t. I have too many expensive hobbies as it is.

    Zahira,

I was at Sg Wang yesterday and only spotted the Half-Moon model at a couple of shops. They could probably order this one for you.

There are a few Singaporean sellers at eBay selling this watch and at a much cheaper price.

    regards…

Great watch! I bought it from designertimepiece.com. They’re not an authorized reseller, however I felt it was worth the large discount in price . I only paid $460 shipped! The watch is of great construction and very light. The digital displays are a tiny, be prepared to look at your watch if you’re using them. The backlighting is awesome, works great on NVGs. The face is easy to read and the atomic clock feature is great! Just make sure you take off your watch at night; apparently it needs to be motionless to receive the signal. The battery charges quickly in the sun; after an hour or two on the window sill it was already at full charge
