Cycling Report

October 26, 2008 6 comments

Just came back from cycling. I love cycling at night here at the place I live. Not many cars and have enough road to cycle around. Today’s aim was all about aerobic exercise, no hill climb (yes, there’s hill climb here as well).

Did a 1-hour session. I’ve set the target heart rate of my heart rate monitor to between the 145 and 175. And as you can see from the photo shown below, I was 53 minutes in zone with an average HR of 152. In fact, I tried to keep my HR above 160 most of the time, which was quite uncomfortable at first. But I actually felt good whenever I saw my HR was above 160. :)

If you are serious about working your heart out, you really need a heart rate monitor.

Cycling for the heart

The place I live now is very bicycle friendly. So, wifey and I decided to get ourselves a bicycle each. In fact, her bike is her birthday present from me. :)

The decision to take up cycling was an easy one. Because we are getting old, running gives too much impact to our knees and joints. We did consider roller-blades, but I’m afraid I would fall into the lake at the park.

Just did a 20km cycle today, not bad for a starter I guess. ;)

Our cargo fresh from the shop! It’s amazing the Iswara Aeroback could fit two mountain bikes.

HER bike. Hard-Tail MTB with front suspension. Aluminium frame. Front and rear V-brakes. Rapid-fire gear shifters. Shimano gears.

HIS bike. Hard-Tail MTB with front suspension. Full alloy. Front disc brake and rear V-brake. Rapid-fire gear shifters. Shimano gears.
