The Pavilion, KL

September 30, 2007 4 comments

Paupau and I were kind of free yesterday night. So I suggested we go to this newly opened mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s shopping district. It’s located at Jalan Bukit Bintang to be exact, directly opposite J.W. Marriott.

First impression, this mall is really ahead of others around in terms of experience. It’s spacious and open. It’s certainly not the biggest around but it’s still quite huge. It’s a totally different kind of concept. You would notice a lot of multi-storey shop lots, with in-built escalators.

The lowest floor and the 6th floor are more for dining. Sandwiched between are all for shopping from branded clothes to branded watches. It you are looking for goods at bargaining price, go to Tesco.

I was totally lost when looking at all the brands. Paupau were happily telling me where each of these brand originated and explaining to me what they are famous for. :o I have no idea she knows so much about these imported brands. Must the huge piles of magazine lying beside her side of the bed. No wonder she said she wanted to go shopping in the US one day. :)

I would recommend you pay a visit some day, but not now. There are some 20-30% of shops still not open yet. One more thing, the parking fees here is ridiculously expensive. It costs us RM10 for the duration of less than 2 hours there. :o Apparently, it’s RM10 per entry after 7pm on Saturday. Before 7pm, I think the first hour is RM3.50, subsequently RM2 per hour.

Here are some photos, taken with my SE K810i:

First Malaysian Astronaut…are you sure?

September 26, 2007 5 comments

Please take a look at NASA’s website. See what is our “astronaut’s” mission on this flight program?

Spaceflight Participant Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor
Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor will launch with Expedition 16 and land with Expedition 15.

That means… Nothing… doing nothing! What a waste of our tax payers’ money.

If you wonder what a spaceflight participant is, well, it’s basically a space tourist, who pay a hefty sum to the Russian Federal Space Agency to get to the International Space Station. A whopping USD30,000,000.00 to be exact, according to here.

This kind of money could well be spent in a more meaningful way somewhere else. A true Malaysia Boleh spirit. I wonder when they will grow up.

Colin McRae [1968 - 2007]

September 17, 2007 6 comments

It was quite shocking to learn that Colin McRae has died of a helicopter crash. Together was his son and 2 friends.

Colin was one of the greatest rally drivers, always spectacular to watch. It’s sad to see that people’s life are cut short in this tragic manner.

Live life full!

Updated:

The kansei boys has posted some video about Colin McRae. Check it out here.

If you have no idea who Colin McRae is, look at what current F1 driver Heikki Kovalainen says about his first encounter with the man he admires:

“It’s really, really sad to hear the news,” he told BBC Sport.

“His driving style and his way of even living was what captured people’s imagination.

“He was really daring, always pushing it further.

“The first time I met him was the Rally Finland in 1995, when he rolled his Subaru twice.

“I went to ask for his autograph, and I still have it.”
